Location
This southwest corner of Scotland boasts 300km of coastlines with sandy bays, dense forests, an abundance of wildlife, and some of the darkest skies in the UK. The area offers something for everyone, whether you want an action-packed break enjoying mountain biking in forests or down quite country lanes, golfing, water sports, canoeing or sailing, fishing, shooting or simply time to kick back and relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside with its forests, lochs and wildlife or spending the days exploring the area with its quaint little towns, castles, Abbeys, and gardens. There are plenty of activities for children including Dalscone, Mabie Farm Park and the Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory to name only a few. Rockcliffe and Kippford can easily be reached via an approximate ½ hour walk on the forest tracks to the side of the lodge where you can enjoy a meal or drink in the Anchor or Mariner overlooking the waterfront. Nearby Colvend has a small village shop with a wider variety of amenities in Dalbeattie (4 miles).
Jane D - Fabulous as always!

Our stay at the Treetops was fabulous as always (this is my 3rd time now). The facilities in the cabin are fantastic (there’s a sauna, hot tub and a BBQ hut) and it’s always spotless. Would definitely recommend a visit. Would also recommend doing the deer tour while you’re there, its just 5 – 10 mins drive down the road. And there is also an escape room there now too which was lots of fun.

29th April 2024
Visited as a group of 5 adults for my sisters 60th Birthday. From the moment we walked in we were just blown away by the place and all the finishing touches, balloons and banners had been put up all over the cabin 😍 couldn’t fault anything and Sue was a fantastic host, there to hand if we needed anything. Could not have picked a better weekend weather wise, was sat outside most of the weekend and made well use of the hot tub. Already planning a return trip we loved it that much xx

Wow! Beautiful. Homely. Cosy. Stunning views! Lots of scenic walks around the area. Very welcoming pub 40 minute walk (the anchor). Sue is lovely. Very helpful and very welcoming. Thank you for letting us stay! We WILL be back again!

This cabin is amazing! The location, the welcome and the facilities are second to non! The walk into Kippord through the Forrest was great. The Anchor hotel for food was wonderful. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back. Thanks

I have noted we were a group of adults. We were a group/family of three adults and two kids of 17 and 19. From booking our time at the cabin/lodge, through to our stay we found booking, communication and help to be first class. Nothing was a trouble and all queries were responded to within hours. The cabin itself has to be seen to be appreciated. The quality of the finishes are excellent, the layout is great for spending family time whether you are cooking or lounging and the add ons outside (bbq hut, sauna and hot tub) just make a great place magical. Far enough into the woodland to appreciate the darkness and get away from light pollution but close enough to get back to town. Having stayed over Christmas the cabin was decorated with a lovely tree for us, which was really appreciated. We will be back.

This is the second time we have visited this year! Still fabulous the second time. The cabin is equipped with a large variety of items so is a home away from home. It’s very modern clean and peaceful. Lovely walks close by lots of nature and regularly visited by red squirrels. It has the most amazing night sky on a clear night. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended we will be back again!

This has to be one of the most amazing holiday locations. Beautiful coves and beaches and wonderful woodland walks. The accommodation is truly amazing. We travelled as a family of 5, children (17, 8 and 4) everyone loved the lodge and its amazing facilities. We were all very sad to leave. Hot tub and sauna are amazing and the attention to detail in the lodge is second to none – everything someone could want for a self catering break. We saw many animals from the veranda, red squirrels, rabbits and even a badger came to visit. Will definitely return.

1st Class accomodation, stunning design with excellent facilities. Sue couldn’t have been more helpful in making us feel welcome. We enjoyed the hot-tub under the stars, with a clear view of the Milky Way. We made good use of the BBQ hut and Sauna and enjoyed seeing the local wildlife up-close, including a Badger and Red Squirrel. A great location for touring around Dumfries & Galloway or just chilling-out with great forest walks. Tons of activities for kids in the area too. Highly recommended.

The pictures of this accommodation do not do it justice. It is everything and more, good quality furnishings, well fitted out kitchen and lovely setting. Sue was very helpful over the phone before arrival for information and in person on the day of arrival. There was 6 adults in our group and it was spacious enough for all of us. Would highly recommend.

Wow. What can I say about Treetops. We had THE most amazing week at this impressive lodge. Everything you could need and more. Beautifully kitted out, lovely decking area, hot tub, sauna and BBQ house. Attention to detail, the little things that make you realise that Treetops is a passion for the owners. Food for the squirrels, throws on the bed in case you get cold (you won’t!), a welcome basket of goodies, the wood fire, BBQ & Sauna all prepped ready to just light, hot tub ready to get in on arrival, milk in the fridge when you arrive, a fully stocked kitchen, towels, hot tub towels, t-towels, the list is endless.
The peacefulness is amazing, and the wildlife just stunning. The hosts are wonderful, helpful and care a great deal that their visitors have the best time. Thankyou Sue & Graham, we really did manage to switch off and have proper break.
Carolyn S - Great week away

This is our 2nd visit to Treetops and it still delivers the wow factor on arrival. Hottub, BBQ hut, sauna and lux accomodation, impressive! Lots to do, places to see and the scenery is beautiful. Thanks for a great stay. We will return again for sure.

The lodge is beautiful and luxurious. Spotless with lots of lovely touches and plenty of towels and kitchen utensils, etc. The owners have thought of everything. Sue was a brilliant host and gave us some recommendations of where to eat, etc. This was all really helpful so thank you! We had an amazing holiday with our grown up sons who are home from university. There is plenty of space for a family of five adults. We all loved the outdoor kitchen, hot tub and sauna. Also loved the outdoor furniture which we were actually able to use as we had a couple of sunny days. My son loved the egg chair! You almost don’t want to leave the lodge! There is plenty to do if the weather is not great. The forest is just below the lodge and it takes you to Kippford, Rockcliffe Beach. We are not really walkers so it was a bit of an adventure for us. It’s not far so worth it but it’s only a few minutes drive if you prefer! Dalbeattie is close for shops, takeaways, cafe, bakeries and there is a shop in Colvend too. It’s a beautiful area with gorgeous beaches so we definitely hope to come back again soon. If you want a beautiful lodge with every modern amenity and also a luxury feel then don’t hesitate to book! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Treetops was exactly as the photographs showed but yet they don’t do it the full justice it deserves. The birdsong and deer visits in the morning and the badger sightings at night. The cabin is so well equipped for a wonderful stay. We had clear night skies that revealed more stars than I had ever seen. It was breathtaking. Surrounded by forest walks, you must visit Kippford for an Ice cream and to see Shell beach. The hot tub is lovely and even when it rained, the log fire and Sauna kept everyone cosy. It is truly a lovely, peaceful place to be. Thank you Sue for our wonderful Stay, we will be back!

Our week at treetops was absolutely incredible. The cabin was everything we needed and more. The location was perfect- surrounded by woodland so we were greeted every day by the red squirrels and the badger came every night. The woods sang with the songs from the song thrush in the dawn chorus. However you’re only a few minutes away from shops in Dalbeattie if you need them and can walk through the woods to get to the beaches at Rockcliffe and Kippford. The hot tub was amazing as well as the sauna. We loved every minute and thank you to Sue who helped show us the ropes. We had the best week and would love to come back again one day.

This is probably one of the best cabins I’ve ever stayed in. The facilities are fantastic and everything has been thought of to make your stay as welcoming and enjoyable as possible. We really enjoyed the hot tub, sauna and BBQ hut, so much so that we found it hard to tear ourselves away from the cabin to do anything. On the one day we did manage to make it out, we went on the forest walk which is just on the doorstep. We took a taxi one evening into Castle Douglas for dinner which was lovely too. I can’t wait to go back and would love to stay for more than just a weekend next time. I couldn’t recommend this highly enough 🙂

Had the most relaxing week at Treetops. We didn’t venture far by choice as there’s lots to do around the area, but we had the most relaxing peaceful week and enjoyed the serenity. The owners are are so lovely and you can see the hard work and dedication that has been put into the lodge. The lodge itself has everything you need at your fingertips and more. We will hopefully be back soon.

Fantastic lodge with everything you could possibly wish for and great hosts! We made good use of all the facilities at the lodge itself including outdoor kitchen, hot tub, sauna and bbq etc. One of the best things was the complete silence and darkness at night. The sky on a clear night is stunning – shooting stars all around!!! Lovely forest walks from doorstep down into Kippford where there are 2 pubs and a cafe/gift shop. Pretty harbour and beach walks. The local town of Dalbeattie has everything you need, pubs, takeaways, cafe, shops, supermarkets etc. Castle Douglas a slightly larger town not far and also Dumfries itself just a 30 minute drive! Not far to walk to Rockliffe or Sandyhills again lovely scenery and many hours rock-pooling. Many places to visit a short drive away. Red Kite feeding station is a must and also Raiders Road and the Otter Pools! Something for everyone! Fantastic area for walking running cycling or just to relax and potter about. Amazing holiday, can’t wait to return to the lodge and the area itself!

A luxurious and authentic log cabin with a forest as your garden and beautiful beaches a mere walk away. Our stay at Treetops was nothing short of perfect. On the rainy days we explored local forests, which were the most magical forests we had ever seen. On the nice days we explored the beaches and lochs along with our paddle boards. The cabin lacks nothing and provides everything. The hosts were fabulous, accommodating and exceptionally helpful. We all came home from our stay at treetops feeling like our own homes were very inadequate compared to the attention to detail and facilities the cabin provide! Beautiful cabin, exceptional hosts, superb location.

Superb! The accommodation is wonderful; excellently appointed, very clean, and wonderfully located. Perfect for a relaxing, peaceful escape. The BBQ hut and sauna are a brilliant idea well thought out, and the hot tub immaculately maintained. The kitchen is spacious and bedrooms comfortable. Forest trails lead straight from the accommodation and there are stunning walks down to the coast, as well as easy access into Dalbeattie forest for great biking. The owners are lovely, and I’m sure would be on hard to resolve any problems if they occurred, but we had nothing but a perfect holiday. It’s a perfect retreat, with wonderful peace and only the sounds of nature to hear. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
